Sunday 6th October saw the first Meet and Greet session take place at The Midlands Hotel on Morecambe prom. Representatives of the carnival organising committee took time to meet members of the Morecambe community and introduce them to the MC14 vision.
As well as talking to people wanting to enter floats into the carnival we also greeted and chatted to people who have been involved with the Morecambe Carnival in past years, both organisers and participants as well as past Carnival Queens. People were kind enough to share both the stories of their carnivals and precious photographs and newspaper clippings of carnivals from Morecambe’s past.
If you weren’t able to make it, don’t worry – we’ll be holding another Meet and Greet soon.
The overall message that we received from everyone was that “It’s about time the Carnival came back!”. We couldn’t agree more. The members of the community we greeted are all excited about being part of bringing back this great community celebration. A big thank you to everyone who came down and met us, pitched ideas, volunteered and entered a float.
We are still welcoming volunteers, sponsors both large and small, float entries, vendors and concessions. Use the links below to sign up today.
