David Brayshaw, Morecambe Carnival Chairman and MC19 Main Stage Host Danny Matthews took time out this past week to show off the brand new I LOVE MC sculpture that will be on display on Morecambe Promenade during festival weekend.
Over the last six years Morecambe Carnival has grown into a festival weekend with 60,000 visitors in 2018 – The team love Morecambe and the visitors love the carnival. So this year the MC19 Team are inviting visitors to take and share photos of themselves with the sculpture to spread the word about Morecambe Carnival and Morecambe!
The ‘I Love Morecambe Carnival’ sculpture was created by local woodwork and chainsaw artist Rolande Urwin who also created Carnforth’s ‘A Brief Encounter 2’ wooden steam engine installation. The Morecambe Carnival is continuing it’s efforts to become an environmentally responsible festival – so rest assured the ‘totem’ style piece was crafted from a recovered storm felled tree.
Visitors can see ‘I Love Morecambe Carnival’ on MC19 weekend 10th & 11th Aug. Be sure to check out the full Carnival Guide to plan your festival weekend!
