In support of Water Safety Week members of the Emergency Services will be staging a Mud and Sand Rescue awareness event at The 2016 Morecambe Carnival.
In support of the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) Water Safety Week Campaign, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) have organised a Mud and Sand Safety awareness event. This multi-agency event will take place on Morecambe Promenade on Saturday the 30th of April, in conjunction with Morecambe Carnival.
Members of the public will be able to access a variety of safety information and operational crews from LFRS, Bay Search and Rescue (BSAR) and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) will be engaging with the public to promote safety advice and display rescue equipment.
A practical demonstration may take place depending on weather conditions (times to be confirmed).
Morecambe Bay has claimed many lives over the years and a combination of emergency services are regularly involved in rescues. The information and safety messages available from the emergency services attending will hopefully help reduce the risk and raise awareness of water safety.
Come along and meet your local rescue crews and learn how to keep yourself safe around water.
You’ll find the Mud and Sand Rescue Event taking place at The RNLI Lifeboat Station in front of The Midland Hotel and the MC16 Motor Village.
Times for demonstrations will be updated when we know them.
